Tressphere helps people across Canada, starting in Winnipeg, find hairstyles, book stylists and keep track of their hair. This page explains what we collect, why, who can see it, and what you can do about it, in plain language.
What we collect
Your account: your name, email address and, if you give it, your phone number.
Bookings and messages: the stylist, service, date and time, any note or photos you attach, and messages you send to stylists.
Saved looks and reviews: looks you save, and reviews you write.
My hair: the styles you log, dates, the stylist name or Instagram handle you type, where you booked, what it cost, your photos, and reminders you set.
Your tastes: the things you tell us you are into (like braids or locs), used to choose looks to show you.
Friends: a nickname you choose, who you have connected with, and which of your styles you decide to share.
Book taps: when you tap Book on a stylist's page, we note that you tapped it. The stylist sees only how many people tapped, never who.
Shop taps: when you tap Buy on a Tressphere shop page, we count the tap for that product. We do not link it to your account. To count each person once a day, we keep a one-way code made from your connection and browser that changes every day and cannot be turned back into who you are.
Page visits and errors: we count visits to each stylist's page the same way as shop taps, without linking them to your account. If a page breaks, we record what broke, which page it was and your kind of device (like "iPhone Safari"), never who you are, with any email addresses or long numbers removed from the error.
Feedback: notes you send us, with the page you were on and the kind of phone and browser you used, so we can fix things.
Waitlist: if you join it, your email, the city you choose and the exact words you agreed to, so we can tell you when Tressphere opens and when stylists join your city. Every email we send has a one-tap unsubscribe.
Job applications: if you apply for a job with a stylist, your name, email, phone, your answers, any links to your work, and anything you attach. Only the stylist or salon you applied to can see it.
Tressbot: the questions you type to our automated assistant. Today it answers with built-in rules on our own servers.
Technical basics: the cookies that keep you signed in, one that remembers which city you browse from (if you pick one), and ordinary server logs. We also count visits with Vercel Web Analytics. It records the page, your country, your device and browser type and where you came from. It uses no cookies, does not follow you across other sites, and we remove account details and private codes from the page address first.
Why we use it
To run the service: show you stylists and looks, make and manage bookings, send the reminders and notifications you ask for, keep Tressphere safe, and fix problems. We do not sell your information.
Who can see what
My hair is private. Only you can see your styles, photos, notes and reminders. Our team can reach the database to support you and keep the service safe, and we only look when we need to.
Friends see only what you share. You choose each style. A friend sees your nickname, the name of the style, which week you are in, and one photo. Never your diary, notes, name, email or phone. You can remove a friend at any time.
A stylist sees your name and the details of a booking or message when you book or message them. Reviews you write show your first name and the first letter of your last name.
When you type a stylist's name or Instagram handle in My hair, we may count how many people have mentioned them, without saying who, so we can invite popular stylists to join Tressphere. In the same way, when you type your own name for a style under Other, we may count how many people typed it, without saying who, so we can add popular styles for everyone.
Shops and stylists' own sites
Our shop pages show products from shops and stylists (such as Rendales and Soleil by Cilo), read from their public online stores. When you tap Buy or Book, you go to their own site, which has its own privacy policy. We do not see what you buy or book there, and we never handle your payment. If you tap to activate a member discount with a shop, we note on your account that you did, so we do not ask again. We send the shop nothing: you give them your email yourself on their page.
Instagram (for stylists)
If you choose to connect your Instagram to bring photos into Tressphere, Instagram asks you to approve read-only access to your profile and posts. We keep your Instagram username, a sign-in key from Instagram (stored encrypted) so we can show you your posts, and a list of which posts you already brought in. Only the photos you pick (for a video, its cover image) are copied onto your page, where you can edit or delete them like any other photo. We never post to your Instagram. You can disconnect at any time, and deleting your account removes all of it.
Stylists we invite
To invite stylists and salons to Tressphere, we may keep business contact details they have published, such as a business name, city, public email, Instagram handle or booking page, and where we found them. Every invitation email has a one-tap unsubscribe, and anyone can ask us to delete these details at abisola.ojo@tressphere.ca.
Services we use
We use Supabase for the database, sign-in and file storage (hosted in Canada), Vercel to host the site (in the United States), Vercel Web Analytics to count visits, and Resend to send email (in the United States). When you type an address, what you type is sent to Photon (photon.komoot.io, a free address search built on OpenStreetMap data), along with your device's internet address, to suggest Canadian places. We never send your name or account details with it. If we switch on the AI version of Tressbot, what you type to it will be sent to Anthropic to write a reply, and we will update this page first. Some information is processed outside Canada.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while you have an account. You can delete your account at any time from Profile, then Privacy and my data. That removes your profile, bookings, messages, saved looks, My hair entries and photos. Copies may remain in backups for a short time. See how to delete your data for the steps, including if you cannot sign in.
Your choices
You can download everything we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or turn off emails, from Profile and Notifications. For anything else, write to abisola.ojo@tressphere.ca.
Keeping it safe
Your connection to Tressphere is encrypted. Photos in My hair, bookings and messages are stored privately and only shown to the people who should see them. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell you if something affects your information.
Who it is for
Tressphere accounts are for adults. Parents and guardians can book and keep track of styles for their children.
Changes and contact
If we change this page in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app. Questions: abisola.ojo@tressphere.ca.
